Adult Individual Therapy

Adult therapy sessions are generally 50-minutes in length, typing occurring weekly or bi-weekly. Although I am licensed to treat all types of mental health conditions for adults, I am the best fit for adults who are looking to process grief, past relationship issues or trauma that impacts them in the context of their relationship with their children. When adults were not given the nurturing they needed as a child, it is difficult to know how to be a safe place for their children. Likewise, when an adult experiences significant trauma, loss, divorce or mental health problems, it can be challenging to move past those things to be the parent you want to be. My goal as a therapist is to help you feel seen in the midst of your struggle and experience, so you can be the person you want to be. I also treat prenatal and postpartum depression and anxiety or issues related to a traumatic birth.

Family Therapy

Family therapy sessions are generally 40-50 minutes in length, depending on the age and developmental needs of the child. Initially, I like to see families weekly to give the child a chance to develop a comfort with me and the therapeutic process, but sessions will decrease in frequency as symptoms reduce. For children under five years of age, I generally require the parent to be part of sessions because young children make sense of their experiences in the context of safe and loving relationships. I also require parent-only sessions from time-to-time to assess treatment progress and have the freedom to talk about things little ears do not need to hear. My goal is to facilitate a strong connection and secure attachment among all family members.

Child Therapy

Child therapy sessions are generally 50 minutes in length. Although I specialize in working with children under the age of six in a family therapy setting, I will also see some older children if I am the right fit for them with my training and experience. The sessions may be family or individual, based on the needs of the child. Again, I require some parent-only sessions from time-to-time to assess progress.

Childcare Consultation

I have eight years of experience consulting with teachers and school administrators about children who are struggling in the classroom. I initially provide two, one-hour observations of the classroom. I then return at a later time to meet with the teacher, parent and/or administrators to present my findings and make suggestions on how to alter the classroom environment or teaching methods to help the struggling children feel safer and be more successful. I use a trauma-informed lens and generally provide material from Conscious Discipline and Trust-Based Relationship Intervention in my feedback.

Clinical Supervision and Reflective Consultation

I provide clinical supervision for LPC Candidates and reflective consultation to clinicians or other providers pursuing Infant Mental Health Endorsement. I am available as a back-up supervisor for clinical LPC supervision, but I do not currently have openings for weekly supervision. Please contact me to schedule an interview if you are interested in either of these services, and I will provide you with my contract and payment schedule at that time. References can be furnished upon request.
